Laurence Siegel has been shooting street photography for the past 12 years with a particular interest in people and their neighbourhoods.
He has a passion for the tension and visually evident relationships between people and the life of their environments. His work captures the drama of a moment in which subjects and the space they occupy are connected in tableau so that each is expressive.
In the past several years, he has displayed work from the streets of Spain, Italy, France, China, Toronto and Mongolia.
All of his images are processed archivally by hand using traditional darkroom techniques. The works are fibre based gelatin silver prints from both 35 mm and medium format negatives.
He is a member of Gallery 44 - Centre for Contemporary Photography
